You Gotta Lotta Guts

*Disclaimer: This post contains scenes of a sexual and violent nature*

Last year I had the great pleasure of working with Picnic Studio again on the opening title sequence of B-movie comedy horror Double Date.

My task was to create keyframe illustrations for their animation team to use in the opening animated sequence.

As the film was essentially a horror I was asked to work in this duo-chrome style of red on dark background. The studio wanted to have a flickering strobe-lighting effect for each scene, which meant I needed to create two versions of most of the images, with each version lit from a different light source.

They also liked the idea of using these warped, dynamic perspectives, which is a style I love working with.

Here is the final result which is the opening of the movie:

I still haven’t got around to watching the film, but definitely will as I love a good B-movie.

I’d love to hear what you think, and if you have any questions fire away.

I like your artwork. It not just images but a story behind each concept that has been designed. Nice.
